Fun in the Mountains
In the Foothills of the Appalachian Mountains

The air is fresh. The sunrises and sunsets are stunning in the more than 23,000 acres of land in the Dawson Forest Wildlife Management Area. Whether hiking, hunting, fishing, white watering, camping, bird watching or horseback riding, the beauty of nature is everywhere -- whether breathtaking mountain or nestled valley views. Dawson County is in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains with the Etowah and Amicalola Rivers running through it and is home to the 729-foot Amicalola Falls, the highest waterfall east of the Rocky Mountains. The State Park which surrounds the falls also features the 56 room Amicalola Falls Lodge and conference facility at the top of the falls. The approach to the start of the Appalachian Trail on Springer Mountain is also located in the park.
